Winter Virtual Games Wrap Up
We recently wrapped up the 2021 Winter Virtual Games with a closing ceremonies and dance which concluded an awesome Games Celebration Week filled with theme days and awards ceremonies. THANK YOU to everyone who participated and supported the Winter Virtual Games this past season.
It has been truly inspirational to see the photos and videos to and hear the stories of how athletes and coaches found creative ways to connect, train and compete in athletics, basketball, fitness as sport and esports. Nearly 250 sport participants completed the winter virtual season and submitted scores in various events. This resulted in close to 500 total Winter Virtual Games medals earned.
Various event and sports videos from this season posted on the SOOR YouTube Channel have already been viewed a total of more than 2,000 times.
Participants were able to form new connections between athletes, partners and coaches from different parts of the state. Several athletes participated in multiple sports which allowed them to connect with multiple coaches and several teammates during season while staying active and building various sports/fitness skills.
Athletes are discovering new ways to become self-starters and problem solvers as we continue to train virtually until it is safe to return to in-person activities.
