USA Games Training Camp

During the weekend of March 11th-13th, the 40 Team Oregon delegates going to Orlando in June, representing 13 Local Program areas from all over Oregon, met all together in Beaverton, in person for the first time! What an amazing time it was- all athletes, unified partners, coaches, and staff coming together to prepare for the USA Games competition!

Team Oregon will be competing in Athletics (Track & Field), Unified Basketball, Bocce, Bowling and Swimming. We also have 3 awesome delegates from Lincoln County serving as our Youth Leadership Experience representatives. They led everyone in a great ice-breaker BINGO game. We even had a special guest, Timber Joey, from the Portland Timbers join in on the fun!

Due to the pandemic, many of our athletes and unified partners have been away from sports for 2 years. Although it was a rigorous return to in-person activities, everyone rose to the occasion and gave their best, from early in the morning to late in the night! We got a chance to evaluate sports levels and set goals and training plans to be our best in June!

In addition to 6-9 hours of sports training, some highlights of the weekend, included our Unified Basketball team from Bend winning 1st place in their championship game in Corvallis, the whole delegation getting to take in a Timbers Soccer Game in Portland, and the families all getting to be together for an information session with Caitlin Buyserie, serving as Families Coordinator for Team Oregon. And let’s not forget the delicious Jersey Mike’s Subs!

Follow along all month as you get to know each of these amazing delegates.
