Staff Spotlight, Jackie Glazer

Jackie Glazer is thrilled to join the Special Olympics Oregon family as the Programs & Volunteer Services Director, working alongside Joe and LouAnne.

Jackie’s says “I started my journey with Special Olympics when I was around 10 years old. One of my best friends growing up had Cerebral Palsy and she competed, so naturally I wanted to go with her. I was instantly hooked by the enthusiasm, passion, and just overall joy of everyone involved. From that point on, I truly have dedicated my life to advocating and working with individuals with disabilities.”

Having earned a dual degree in Liberal Studies (Special Education focused) and Recreation Administration (Recreation Therapy focused) from Chico State, Jackie embarked on her professional journey. Her 12-year tenure at a local brokerage service for adults with ID/IDD in her hometown was a testament to her commitment. Prior to moving to Oregon, Jackie was heavily involved with Special Olympics in various capacities, progressing from a volunteer to coaching roles and ultimately serving as the Area Director (similar to our Local Program Coordinator role) for almost a decade.

Outside of work and volunteering, Jackie enjoys quality time with her fur babies (dog & cat), friends, and family. A huge foodie and a member of the PDX Yelp Elite squad, she’s always ready to recommend great places to eat. In the winter months, Jackie indulges in reading and savoring the slower pace of life, while in the summer, she can be found camping and spending as much time in the water as possible! Excited to be part of the SOOR family, Jackie looks forward to the upcoming Summer Games.
