Unified Champion School Program and Oregon School Athletics Association Make History

On May 26, 2023 eight Special Olympics Oregon Unified Champion Schools Unified Track and Field teams participated in the first-ever Unified 4 x 100 relay within OSAA’s state meet. Unified teams competed on the legendary Hayward Field track at the University of Oregon. It was an incredible exhibition!

Several schools participated in Unified track and field this year. While Unified strategy looked different in each school, Jean Hansen of SOOR UCS encourages interested schools to look for ways to integrate athletes and partners into your schools’ existing teams. What better way to include than within existing structures?!
