Ron Crawford

Ron Crawford joins Team Oregon as one of the 3 unified basketball coaches from the UCS, Bend Senior High School. He is a Science Teacher in Bend, Oregon and enjoys mountain biking and coaching Nordic skiing. Ron says that “helping out with Special Olympics has connected me to the greater Bend, Or community.  I have made amazing friends and met some awesome people. Unified Sports has been a passion for our team and school, but it is not part of our school district’s budget.  Getting this opportunity has brought the importance of this program to the forefront.”

Ron attributes his inspiration from some important people in his life. He is most proud of his 2 children who are “both looking to help others by being an educator or a medical professional”. He additionally admires his “Great Grandmother, Myrta Bright [who] has been an inspiration.   After the 19th Amendment passed, she was the first women Superintendent of a Washington school district.  She lived a tough life as a single mother with 11 children in a time when professional women were not treated with respect.

With some great inspiration and community support behind him, Team Oregon will be very fortunate to have Ron Crawford on board, coaching the Unified Basketball Team members to great success in Orlando!
