Become an Athlete

Athlete Application for Participation / Medical Form - You must have a valid Athlete Medical form on file before participating in any Special Olympics Oregon events, practices or competitions. A new medical form must be completed every three years.

During times of COVID-19 - Please make sure that you complete your Medical Form and the COVID-19 Waiver and send back to your Local Program.  These documents will be valid for three years.

Sports Schedule


We are underway with our 2023 Winter season.  Basketball, powerlifting and our Unified Intramural basketball at the U of O are starting.

Registration is now closed for these sports.  We hope to see you for our summer season if you missed out on winter.

Winter Practice Schedules


We are practicing at Gerlinger Annex on the U of O campus in gym B50. Skills and 3v3 teams are practicing on Tuesdays between 5 & 7pm.  Our three traditional 5v5 teams are practicing Thursdays between 5 & 8pm.

The regional competition for basketball will be Saturday, March 18, in Turner.  More information will be handed out as we get closer to the competition.

Unified Intramural Basketball:

Starting Sunday, January 29, 11:30-12:30, ending March 12 . Student Rec Center, 1320 E 15th Ave. Eugene.

Championship games March 12


We will be practicing at CrossFit Evviva, 234 W 6th Ave in Eugene, Saturdays 3-4:30pm starting Saturday February 4th.

Competition is scheduled for April 16 with the location still to be determined.

Local Program Events

The Eugene Emeralds will be hosting an Opening Night Celebration with a dunk tank benefitting our local program.  It is set for the Opening Night of the Emeralds 2023 season. Athletes and coaches will be able to sell tickets to the game as part of the fundraiser.  This is NOT replacing our usual summer Em's ticket sale fundraiser. More details to come.

Class A Volunteer

All volunteers who have close contact with athletes or who handle the financial assets of Special Olympics Oregon must complete a Class A volunteer application. This includes coaches, chaperones, Unified Partners and Local Program Management members. Volunteers need to complete the Class A Volunteer process which includes an online application, background check and online trainings.
