Become an Athlete

Athlete Application for Participation / Medical Form - You must have a valid Athlete Medical form on file before participating in any Special Olympics Oregon events, practices or competitions. A new medical form must be completed every three years.

During times of COVID-19 - Please make sure that you complete your Medical Form, The COVID-19 Code of Conduct and the COVID-19 Waiver and send back to your Local Program.  These documents will be valid for three years.

Sports Schedule

 Fall Season 2022

We are planning fall season.  Stay tuned for updates.

ATHLETES must turn in their completed medical by August 29th.

COACHES - make sure to complete your class A application and let us know what sport you want to coach.

We plan to offer the following sports dependent upon availability of coaches and volunteers:

     B O W L I N G

Coach:  Robyn Reedy

When:  Saturday mornings at 10:00 a.m.—First practice September 17.

Where:  Ten Down Bowling Alley

Regional:  Held virtually at Ten Down—date to be determined

     S O C C E R

Coach:  Shelly Beecroft

When:  Sunday afternoons at 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.—First practice September 11.

Where:  Fir Grove Soccer fields by bathrooms

Regional:  November 19 & 20 at Providence Park, Portland

     S W I M M I N G

Coach:  Pam Moore

When:  Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.—First practice September 10.

Where:  The Y

Regional:  October 30 in Corvallis

SOOR Active

Local Program Events

Where:  Stewart Park, Roseburg

Food and drinks are provided.

Bring a chair or blanket.

Tentative sports offered—dependent upon number of coaches/volunteers available:  bowling, soccer, swimming.

Class A Volunteer

All volunteers who have close contact with athletes or who handle the financial assets of Special Olympics Oregon must complete a Class A volunteer application. This includes coaches, chaperones, Unified Partners and Local Program Management members. Volunteers need to complete the Class A Volunteer process which includes an online application, background check and online trainings.
