Hello to all our fabulous athletes, volunteers and parents for Special Olympics Oregon - Clatsop County! We have such a great group of athletes and coaches! We’re so glad that you’re part of this amazing group!

  • collaborate on ideas for making this program bigger and better!

LouAnne Tabada, SOOR staff, will be joining us. She gives a huge "shout out" to David and Steve McAloney as co-Local Program Coordinators, for their dedication to this program, all their hard work to bring the program back in action and expanding the sports program!

We look forward to bringing our team together so we can continue to expand our program and provide the best for all of our athletes!

Become an Athlete

ATHLETE APPICATION FOR PARTICIPATION / MEDICAL FORM

You must have a valid Athlete Medical Form on file before participating in any Special Olympics Oregon events, practices or competitions.

  1. Complete and sign all four pages of the medical form.
  2. Make an appointment for a physical examination with your doctor or licensed physician.
  3. At your doctor's appointment, have your doctor fill out and sign the Physical Examination section at the bottom of page one.
  4. Return this completed form to your Local Program.
  5. We recommend making a copy of the completed medical.

A new Medical Form must be completed every three years.

Class A Volunteer

COACH - UNIFIED PARTNER -
LOCAL PROGRAM MANAGEMENT TEAM

All volunteers who have close contact with athletes or who handle the financial assets of Special Olympics Oregon must complete a Class A volunteer application. This includes coaches, chaperones, Unified Partners and Local Program Management members. Volunteers need to complete the Class A Volunteer process which includes an online application, background check and online trainings.

Click on the link below to complete the application and trainings.  The system will automatically guide you through the appropriate training modules for adults and minors.

We will be training and competing in 3 sports this season.

       BOWLING

Practices Start:  Sept 2

Practice Day and Time:  Saturdays 12 pm - 2 pm

Location:  Lower Columbia Bowl, Astoria

Remote Regional:  Nov 4 - Lower Columbia Bowl

        SOCCER

Practices Start:  Sept 2

Practice Day and Time:  Saturdays 10 am - 12 pm

Location:  Tapiola Park, Astoria

Regional: Nov 18-19, Providence Park, Portland

     SWIMMING

Practices Start:  Sept 2

Practice Day and Time:  Saturdays 1 pm - 3 pm

Location:  Astoria Pool

Regional:  Nov 5 - Beaverton

 

ATHLETES - The medical deadline for this season is Sept 4.  We must have your completed medical by that date in order for you to train and compete.

COACHES -- We need more coaches!  Please see Class A Volunteer information above.
