Polar Plunge is a worldwide fundraiser for Special Olympics Oregon where participants raise money from their networks and jump into a cold body of water to support athletes. Sounds like a blast, right? Here in Oregon, we jump into the Willamette River, the Deschutes River, swimming pools, or you can DIY it!
Yes, you can register for both. If you’ve already registered for one and wish to add the other to your ticket, email us at polarplunge@soor.org and we’ll help you out!
On plungeoregon.org, select the market you want to Plunge in. Click the blue register button and it will give you an option of how you want to sign up. Select “create a team” then follow the instructions when signing up.

If you’re doing the 5K, you’ll get to run with everyone else! If you’re Plunging, we’ll place you in a Plunge group with other folks who aren’t on a team.
Incentives are exclusive Polar Plunge swag items awarded at different fundraising levels to celebrate and recognize your hard work! For 2027:
These incentives are our way of saying thank you for supporting the Polar Plunge and Special Olympics Oregon!
Good question! If you signed up for ONE event (either the Polar Plunge or the Polar 5K, but not both), your fundraising minimum is $60. When you reach $60 on your fundraising page, you’ll qualify to Plunge or participate in the 5K and get your Nike t-shirt.
If you signed up to BOTH take the Plunge AND do the Polar 5K, your fundraising minimum is $100! When you reach $100 on your fundraising page, you’ll qualify to do both and get your Nike t-shirt.
Yes, but it may take a while! Please mail checks made out to Special Olympics Oregon to 8313 SW Cirrus Drive, Beaverton OR 97008. Make sure the Plunger’s name is in the memo line. The more info we have, the easier it will be for us to put it in the right place! Once we’ve processed the donation, it will show up on your fundraising page as an offline donation.
We don’t recommend mailing cash, but feel free to send us a cashier’s check! You’re also welcome to bring your cash or checks to your Plunge location and we’ll get it updated afterward.
Nope! These are reserved for folks that fundraise for Special Olympics Oregon.
Yes, there will be heated tents that participants can change in.
A TOWEL, a change of clothes, a bag to put your wet clothes in, and any personal belongings that you wish to bring. If your Plunge is in a river (looking at you, Eugene, Bend, Corvallis, and Portland), shoes are required.
A costume! We have a team costume competition at each Plunge location. Regardless of what you wear, keep in mind that your clothes and shoes will get wet!
After the event, photos will be posted to our Flickr page primarily, but photos may also be found on our social media, including Facebook and Instagram!
Yes, you are welcome to participate! You can register as a Non-Plunge Participant. You can fundraise without getting wet and be eligible for fundraising incentives!
Nope! All are welcome. Participants under 18 will need to have a minor waiver signed before they can Plunge. You can find them here in English and here in Spanish. Please fill out and bring them to the Plunge with you!
