Dr. Jeff Kawaguchi
Jeff Kawaguchi is a physical therapist and an athletic trainer. He is currently the program director for the athletic training education program at Pacific University in Hillsboro Oregon. “Special Olympics (and athletic training) has provided me the opportunity to work with some of the most amazing athletes and people,” states, Jeff. “I wish I could be at every event, every competition, every moment. Although I do my best, it is impossible to experience it all,” he continues.
In addition to all the athletic training work he does, Jeff enjoys exercising, especially running. He says he most admires his wife, Karen, “for all of her understanding, caring, compassion and patience she has shown during 25+years of marriage and for putting up with all of my athletic training ‘journeys’.” He also admires his parents for all that they have endured and the unwavering support they have always shown him, and his children: son, Jamie and daughter, Callie, for being kind, compassionate and understanding young adults.
Jeff mentioned that he is most proud to see the students, athletes and each individual he interacts with succeed and reach their goals and dreams. This makes for a great match and opportunity for Jeff to be the perfect Team Oregon Medical Staff delegate. We are so fortunate to have Jeff Kawaguchi share his valuable time and vast experience and skills with us as we compete together in Orlando Florida.
