Join us for Dog Days of Summer, July 16-19th, 2020
We’re gearing up for our next event, and you’re invited!
Dog Days of Summer is a virtual fun run, walk, or hike that you can do anywhere you like. It’s a fun and easy way to help support Special Olympics Oregon athletes, and it makes a huge difference to so many in our community.
This is a feel-good fundraiser that lets you blend your favorite fitness activity with making a difference. Ditch the virtual happy hour and instead encourage your colleagues, family, friends, neighbors and even your pets to sign up with you!
There are three ways you can support Special Olympic athletes:
#1 - Join In!
Adults, kids, and four-legged friends are welcome to participate. Find a park or trail, cruise your neighborhood, hit the beach, or even hop onto your treadmill at home.
Participate in your activity any time on Thursday, July 16th through Sunday, July 19th. Run, walk, hike, bike, roll, or scoot your chosen distance, at your own pace, to show your support for the athletes of Special Olympics Oregon.
And once you’ve signed up, you’re able to fundraise. After registering as an individual or team, you’ll receive instructions on how to set up your fundraising page. It’s quick and easy.
Help us share the fun by posting your photos to our Facebook page. And take it one step further by dressing up in your craziest costume - you could win a prize!
#2 - Support a fundraising person or team
Want to support Special Olympic athletes another way? We invite you to support a fundraiser. Search for an individual or team’s fundraising page here.
#3 - Make a direct donation
Direct donations are another excellent way to support Special Olympics of Oregon athletes. Every dollar counts and can be donated in the memory of a loved one.
And yes - it’s tax deductible! (See the donation page for more details.)
Have fun, be active, and do good.
In response to COVID-19, our regularly-scheduled in-person sports training, competition, and events have been suspended. This is a devastating blow to our athletes.
But you can help!
Your participation - whether you’re walking, running, or supporting a person or team, contributes to the betterment of our communities across the State by promoting respect, equality, and inclusion, and ensures continued opportunities for our athletes.
We can’t do it without you and with the help of our amazing partners.
A HUGE thank you to Nike for matching the first $25,000 of funds raised.
And an equally huge thank you to our partners, The Oregonian, Athletic.net, and Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympic Athletes.
And finally, thank YOU. We are grateful for your support that makes such a tremendous impact for our athletes and community.
