Partner Spotlight: Polar Plunge
It wouldn’t be a complete Polar Plunge without the Clackamas Federal Credit Union “CU in the Water” Plungers. Clackamas Federal is a true partner with Special Olympics Oregon across so many areas of our work, and a champion of our athletes, both on and off the field. President, Aaron Goff, and his employee team sit in various volunteer roles across our organization. From coaching basketball as part of Winter Virtual Games to serving on the Young Professionals Council, the team at Clackamas Federal Plunges into everything they do with true passion. We are so grateful to have Clackamas Federal Credit Union returning as a statewide sponsor for this year’s Virtual Polar Plunge Oregon!
We are so grateful for returning sponsor Mattress World Northwest and their unending support of Polar Plunge! During this challenging year, owner Sean Hathaway, doubled down on his support to Special Olympics Oregon and produced a Plunge commercial to bolster participant numbers across the state. Sean and his team have been Plunging and raising funds to support athletes for years, and this year’s Virtual Polar Plunge will be no different. Thank you Mattress World Northwest!
Supply Source President and owner, Butch Pollard, serves on Special Olympics Oregon Board of Directors. When he heard that one of our long time sponsors was unable to partner this year due to the pandemics economic impact on their business, he stepped up to the plate with his company providing both a Silver Sponsorship and a generous matching gift incentive for fundraisers. “Butch is a hero to SOOR” says Britt Oase, SOOR CEO, “he has a huge heart for our mission!” We are grateful to the team at Supply Source for the incredible impact they are making for our 2021 BRRR-tual Polar Plunge.
Lithia Motors headquartered in Southern Oregon continues to “wow” us with their team spirit and generous corporate impact for SOOR athletes! The “Lithia Motors” plunge teams literally “makes waves” in Southern Oregon. Headquartered in Medford, Lithia helps to shine a spotlight on the needs of athletes and participates in games and plunges alike. Since 2008, Lithia employees have volunteered and assisted with registration activities, plunged themselves in the very chilly Southern Oregon pool Plunge, and have held annual post-plunge Super Bowl fundraisers that have raised thousands of dollars for Special Olympics athletes. This year they are meeting virtually in small groups across their 19 franchises and are Freezin’ for a Reason!

As new partners with Special Olympics this year, the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, through the Spirit Mountain Community Fund promotes sustainability, inclusion, and the advancement of underserved communities. Thank you, Spirit Mountain, we hope to form a long-lasting friendship between you and our athletes for many generations to come.
