Where Sport Means More
Special Olympics Oregon uses sports training and competition to grow acceptance and inclusion of children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
It’s all for the athletes.
Special Olympics Oregon brings year-round sports training and competition to children and adults with
intellectual disabilities. Through the challenges and triumphs of real competition, we serve Oregon’s largest disability
population by celebrating their abilities. And by competing, athletes experience life-changing opportunities to improve
physical fitness, learn everyday life skills and connect more closely to their communities.
There’s something for everyone and cost is never a barrier
Through the power and joy of sport, we focus on and appreciate all that our athletes can do. When that happens, attention to their disabilities fades away. They become more involved in their communities. And they explore new ways to show who they really are. We serve children and adults from age 8 – 108 living with intellectual disabilities in every hometown across Oregon – and cost is never a barrier as programs are free to the participants. Check out what’s happening in your backyard.
